Learn the Pratyayas
Suffixes are those words that are added to the end of a word to form new words. In Sanskrit, suffixes are called Pratyayas [प्रत्ययाः].
Prefixes are used first in the word but suffixes are used later. The use of prefixes changes the meaning of the original words. But with the use of suffixes, the meaning of the word remains the same as that of the root word.
Types of Suffixes:
There are five types of suffixes in Sanskrit. They are:
1.सुप्-प्रत्ययः -It tells about the inflection of the name in nouns, phrases, etc
2.तिङ-प्रत्ययः -it tells about the period of metals, etc
3.कृत्-प्रत्ययः -These form nouns of metals
4.तद्धित-प्रत्ययः -These tell the use of different forms of name words
5.स्त्री-प्रत्ययः -These tell the feminine forms of the names
